I’m not being glib. I’m being real. I want you to reflect on the world that we are living in today. A lot has changed in the last twenty four hours. And much more will change overnight. Everything we know and take for granted can be swept away in the blink of an eye. Many of us have found that out the hard way.

In the vein of achieving great results for yourself, others, and your organization, let’s go back for a moment to the root of where it all began and consider the questions that the people who see themselves as have nothing think about each and every day.
How does anyone overcome having started out with nothing and achieve their dreams?
How does one begin with a brand-new slate, an empty bank account, with nothing to their name?
What is the solution to the plight that might involve no friends, no money, no home, nor any of what might be in place for so many others?
How does one gain hope when they are broken?
How can they be helped to live a rich and irresistible life?
These are not silly questions designed for those living outside of an ivory tower. They are questions we could reflect on routinely to find answers not only for those in immediate need, but for ourselves in the future. They also promote preparedness, and thoughtful dedication to achieving daily results. Because no matter how much you have, there’s always the possibility, however remote it might be, that you could find yourself in that position.
So, what's the answer? When you read my work on Irresistible Communication, or attend one of my trainings on the subject, you’ll discover that the fundamentals of success start with interactions with oneself and others. That’s right. Riches are birthed in verbal, and non-verbal communication. But just not any form of communication—irresistible communication.
To highlight, when you interact with others in ways that serve them, delivering value, and creating an environment of robust interactions where people feel enriched and empowered in that moment, you are planting the seeds of hope, confidence, and possibility. It begins there.
Seeing others, being present when you’re with them, offering care and support in multiple and varied ways, allow you to engage in sharing what you have in the moment. It gives you occasion to understand their needs and help them determine where they are and where they want to go. You're able to come alongside them, walk with them, and make their lives easier in every way you can. If you think about it, someone has done this for you.
How do you start with a little and create a lot? It is helpful to ask a powerful question. Who are you? Take time to examine that. There’s a reason to go all the way back, as far back as you can remember, and maybe even further back that that. It may be a little spiritual, but foundationally necessary. This type of reflection cuts through the superficial and gets to the essence of your very being.
When I conduct such a self-reflection, I understand and come to terms with the reality that there was a time when I didn’t exist in the flesh, and there will be another time when I won’t. Somewhere within those realms exists the answer to the questions, "who are you and who are you not?" Am I just a physical face, lovely person, nice body, comfortably housed individual, with wonderful friends, a fancy title, intellect, big social media following, and sizable investment portfolio? There’s a part of me that sometimes thinks I am. But it is not the total picture. It falls short of who I want to be. So the questions and attempts at answers continue. Who do I think I am? Who do others think I am? Who am I not?
From there, reflect on who you want to be. It's likely that you want to be happier, more fulfilled, more content, to have more friends, and be healthier, more evolved, more knowledgeable, more caring and servant oriented. The list goes on to include physical traits, behaviors, experiences, and philosophies. By asking these deep and introspective questions, you’ll discover that deep within yourself lies significant treasure. Sure, you might get swept up by the tide of what is popular and expected by societal norms and the culture. You might even embrace it all without questioning it. But does this truly provide you with the ultimate sense of fulfillment, satisfaction, happiness, and bliss? Not likely.
What is it that provides richness from nothing? It is the moments in life that invite you to grow, help yourself, and help others around you. This is what builds strong spiritual well-being and success feelings.
You experience unsurpassed richness when you engage with others, share a cup of coffee, take a walk, mingle with a friend, sit with a colleague, ask enlightening questions, and listen to the answers. Asking them what you can do to improve their lives and well-being is often key to understanding what you need too. What have they done recently that brings them happiness and pleasure. What do they value? What matters most to them?
Taking time routinely to ask and reflect on the deepest of questions is the start of the journey from nothing to everything you imagine could be possible. You’ll discover what you do have, and what lies in the midst of previously unharnessed and untapped potential. This re-energizes you, and those to whom you ask such questions, with purpose, a new sense of direction, focus, urgency, and desire to pursue it. Little adjustments buoyed by lengthy reflections that unearth appreciation and enthusiasm about your present and your future is where it all begins.
